Why You Need to Plan Your Financial Life.

financialMedical advancements mean a longer life span for most of us. Living to age 90 in retirement is a distinct possibility. You need far more capital in retirement than your parents.

The Information Age means that life moves at a faster pace than ever before.
If you do not keep up with what's going on around you (financially) you will quickly be left behind.
Financial literacy is vital today!

The days of a career with one company are gone. So too has the reward of a guaranteed pension. Today, you take the risk in growing your pension, not your company. Increasingly, YOU have to take control of your future. No one will do it for you.
If you do not plan today, you are taking a huge risk with your future.

Protect yourself and your family.
Your income earning potential is the greatest asset you have. No one can protect you from life's day-to-day risks, but you can take steps that will protect your financial future. You can make sure that life-changing events do not affect your finances. You can prevent financial ruin from illness, injury and death. And you can do it today. For your sake, at least make some enquiries. You will be surprised at how little it costs.
Debt.
It is very easy to land up in debt. What with all the offers of credit today, before you know it, you can owe more than your earn. You must take control of your money. And a financial plan is your first step. It's bad enough running out of money before the month ends, but what will you do if your run out of money before your retirement ends? Only you can prevent this from happening and if you have debt, how will your ever start saving?
Living to age 90.
That's 25 years or so with no salary! How much have you saved in the last 25 years? Enough to live with no salary for the next 25 years? I doubt it.Don't land up outliving your money. Only 1 in every 100 retires wealthy. A financial plan will assist you in trying to be that 1.
Children.
For most people, after tax, their greatest expense is children! Not only living costs, but education. After all a good education is the finest gift your can give your child. But if you do not plan for the costs, you deny yourself and your children this wonderful opportunity. You may also want to give your daughter the best wedding you can, buy your child a car or help them start a business. Don't plan and your dreams remain dreams.
Your home.
One of the most rewarding goals you can attain is to own your home. What a feeling when the bond is paid! And it is even better if it happens in a shorter period than you initially accepted from your bank. The saving in interest can be huge. Plan and it can become a reality sooner than you think.
Retirement.
The greatest savings goal we face, is for a comfortable retirement. You must be aware of the threats to your retirement, the advertising media is full of it. But have you really considered your plan? How much will you need and how much should you be saving now? You can retire in style, it just takes planning and dedication.
Medical care.
Along with an extended life, comes higher medical costs. For most people, medical expenses in the final few years of their lives wipes out any savings they have. Almost half of us will spend time in a nursing home – sad but fact. If you don't have the funds to meet these bills, what then? And what about your spouse and children who will have to suffer along with you? Surely you don't want the added burden of no money?
Inheritance.
Most of us would like to leave a good inheritance for those we love. If you don't plan now, your retirement and medical costs will prevent you from leaving a legacy. Gone are the days of wealth being passed down to children. Today it is more likely to be passed up to parents. You can try prevent this from happening.

Simply start planning today.

It is because of these reasons (and many more) that you need to create a financial plan today.
I do hope this gives you “food for thought”.
